What is 3D rendering anyway?

3D rendering is a process of converting 3D wire framing models into a 2D static image. It is like photography, but the whole scene is generated digitally so we can alter camera angles, lighting, and anything else in the image.  It simulates realistic lighting, shadows, atmosphere, color, texture, and optical effects such as the refraction of light, accurate as how it would look naturally. It is a powerful medium to convey your ideas visually.

Basic Phases of a 3D rendering:

3D Modeling : process of developing a shape of an object, by representing any 3 dimensional surface of an object.

Materials and Textures : process of adding specific materials and textures to the 3D model.

Layout : process of laying out a scene in an environment.

Lighting : process of setting up lighting, such as sunlight, and how it interacts with various forms of matter.

Rendering : process of converting a 3D model into a 2D image.

Post Production : process of color correcting, final touch ups and tweaking

You can’t Rush Art !

3D rendering, 3D visualization, 3D photography, photo-realistic rendering, there are many different names to call what we do - all at the end is artwork, we just use the computer as a medium.  There are no magic buttons that creates an image - it is an intricate and complex process combining different components and techniques. There’s also the creative human behind this artistic process to produce an image, and using a computer doesn’t make the process any different from an artist painting his masterpiece.
